About the Artist

Ivana Kraljevic is a Serbian contemporary artist based in Zurich, Switzerland.

Working primarily in painting, her practice explores the relationship between classical portraiture and contemporary visual culture. Defined by a refined yet expressive visual language, her work reinterprets traditional forms through a contemporary lens, creating a dialogue between the familiar and the timeless.

Drawing on elements of popular culture alongside subtle surreal narratives, Kraljevic constructs compositions that exist between reality and imagination. These layered visual references challenge conventional readings of portraiture while preserving a sense of psychological depth and timelessness.

Alongside this figurative practice, Kraljevic develops a body of abstract works that explore the emotional architecture between two beings. Through subtle gestures, layered surfaces and restrained colour palettes, she examines intimacy, attachment and the silent tension of closeness, often reflecting on the primordial bond between mother and child. Moving beyond figuration, these works distill presence and connection into atmosphere rather than narrative.

Kraljevic holds a Master’s degree in Painting from the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, Italy.

Her work has been exhibited internationally, including in Belgrade, Turin, Moscow and Zurich, and is held in private collections.
