About the Gallery
Ivana Kraljevic is a Serbian contemporary artist based in Zurich, Switzerland.
Working across painting, her practice explores the relationship between classical portraiture and contemporary visual culture. Her work is defined by a refined yet expressive approach, where traditional forms are reinterpreted through a modern lens.
Alongside this dialogue between classical and contemporary references, Kraljevic develops a body of abstract works that explore the emotional architecture between two beings.
Through subtle gestures, layered surfaces and restrained color palettes, she examines intimacy, attachment and the silent tension of closeness — often reflecting on the primordial bond between mother and child.
These works move beyond figuration, distilling presence and connection into atmosphere rather than narrative.
Kraljevic often incorporates elements of pop culture into her compositions, creating a dialogue between the familiar and the timeless. Alongside these works, she develops subtle surreal narratives, introducing moments that exist between reality and imagination.
She holds a Master's degree in Painting from the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, Italy.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including in Belgrade, Turin, Moscow and Zurich, and is held in private collections.
